Industry 4.0 Drivers for VR Democratization

As digital transformation has gained accelerated momentum post global pandemic, we are seeing the need for a hybrid and much more flexible working environment. This need to access data anywhere, anytime, without compromise, is forcing companies to rethink their strategy for users support and deployment. When this is coupled with the desire to make better informed decisions earlier and much more capable Hardware such as HMD’s (Head Mounted Displays) at a low price point. It’s clear to see that fixed XR facilities are becoming less desirable / relevant, mainly due to their prohibitive cost, floor space requirements, power consumption and the fact that only 20-30 percent of engineers are onsite at any given time. We are at the start of mass VR democratization, in the next evolution of digitalisation, we will see a massive shift similar to the 1990’s shift from 2D to 3D CAD.

8:50 – 9:20 Panel Discussion: Workforce Challenges Posed by AR How do you convince stakeholders why and how to invest in AR? Insights from Realwear, Boeing, Rolls Royce and more.

Ideas and tools to collaborate with your employees to achieve inclusion, involvement, and longer-term buy-in to AR projects. Gain a clear understanding of the potential people challenges

9:20 – 9:40 Thought Leadership Presentation   Augmental

Leap into the industrial metaverse

The metaverse – there’s an enormous buzz around it with tales of fully virtual spaces mimicking real life and extending it via games or online collaboration. But when you take a closer look, the metaverse does not seem to offer much for enterprises and industrial leaders. This definition leaves out the people that are solving real-world problems across all industries and processes that are very much anchored in the physical world. So, it is time to leap into the “industrial metaverse” and redefine frontline work in the 21st century – with the help of AR-guided solutions.

11:00 – 11:30 Human Factors and Related Safety Challenges Possible barriers to AR adoption include a poorly designed experience and/or concerns for the safety of the worker using AR.

Learn more about the AREA’s work to understand potential human factors and safety issues including the AREA Safety Infographic, Playbook, and Best Practices.

11:30 – 11:50 Thought Leadership Presentation Realwear: Mark Thurgood, Solution Deployment Engineer

Assisted reality wearables, now is the right time

A look at assisted Reality (aR), what it is, and how its different from VR/AR. We will take a look at some easy to identify and some unusual use cases and some lessons we have learned about adopting this new technology.

12:10 – 12:40 Security is Key: Overcoming the Challenges of AR Security A good understanding of security concerns and how to mitigate them when implementing AR is critical. Learn from experts on how to overcome the challenges through interactive discussion and a review of best practices.
