Overview of event

Now in its 53rd year, CES is a very important global event for technologists and business professionals to meet and to see the latest innovations – those to be released as products and many which will never leave the lab. In 2016, the exhibition floor began to include a dedicated AR and VR zone. Each year the number of companies exhibiting and the size of the AR/VR zone has grown. In 2018 the Consumer Technology Association, which owns the event, finished repositioning CES to reflect that, despite an emphasis on mass market, many attendees seek to identify new enterprise-facing components, solutions or partnerships, not solely consumer technologies.

In addition to many of the world’s largest technology companies, thousands of start ups and smaller companies exhibit at CES to identify future customers and partners. In 2020, the AR and VR category included at least 350 companies.

Agenda

During this member-exclusive AREA Research Committee webinar, Christine Perey (PEREY Research & Consulting, and chair of the AREA Research Committee) will review some of the CES 2020 announcements and demonstrations which could have an impact on the Enterprise AR ecosystem in 2020 and beyond. Following the presentation, members who attended CES 2020 will share their experiences and emerging trends they observed in the exhibition halls and discuss how these might impact their future plans.

Participating in this webinar will provide AREA members with:

– a summary of relevant announcements and trends observed while attending and/or exhibiting at CES, and;

– guidelines for deciding whether to attend in the future and, for those who do attend or exhibit, how members can make the most of CES.
