Augmented Reality

Augmented Reality refers to any technology that “augments” the user’s visual (and in some case auditory) perception of their environment. Typically, digital information is superimposed over a natural, existing environment. Information is tailored to the user’s physical position as well as the context of the task, thereby helping the user to solve the problem and complete the task.

Assistive Reality

Assistive Reality is technique that connects people with data required to perform tasks by placing that data directly within their field of view in a user-centric manner. Relevant information is presented to the user overlaid on his/her field of view (FOV) in user-centric manner. The information follows the user’s movements and does not have any spatial relationship with the surrounding environment.

Allocentric Space

Allocentric Space (also known as object-centric space) is one of two reference systems used to map the location of digital content in an AR application. It uses the object of interest as the reference point. The other reference system, Egocentric Space, uses the user’s body or head as the reference point.
