Accelerating the use of augmented reality in the enterprise

The AREA Welcomes Skyhopper as a Member

BOSTON, MA – SEPTEMBER 1, 2026 – The Augmented Reality for Enterprise Alliance (AREA) today announced that Skyhopper has joined the consortium. Skyhopper works with the companies building enterprise XR: hardware manufacturers, software providers, and the service partners around them. We help them figure out their go-to-market, which means channel strategy, partnerships, pricing, and the unglamorous work of getting a solution from a good demo to a signed deal. I started the company after years at Accenture and Meta on the enterprise side of this industry realizing that XR founders and their leadership teams deeply appreciate strategy and execution from someone who understands them and can create connections to elevate their mission.

We joined the AREA because vendor-neutral work lowers the barrier to entry for everybody. The research, the requirements tooling, and the shared standards are the things that make an enterprise buyer comfortable enough to move, and no single vendor can build that alone. We want to contribute on the go-to-market and procurement side, because plenty of companies in this space have strong technology and no clear path to the buyer. That’s a gap we can help close.

I’ve sat on both sides of this, with enterprise teams trying to figure out where to start, and with solution providers trying to figure out how to reach them, and the gap between those two conversations is where I find the most need. The AREA has been closing that gap in a neutral way for a long time, which is why we joined. What I’m hoping to get is a closer line to enterprise end users about what they actually need. What I want to give back is what we know about go-to-market, channel, and the federal side of buying, because that’s something a lot of XR companies ask about and very few have a real roadmap for. If we can help a few members get from pilot to production faster, that’s a good use of a membership.

“Skyhopper brings valuable expertise in one of the most important challenges facing the XR industry today: helping innovative solutions successfully reach enterprise buyers,” said Mark Sage, Executive Director of the AREA. “Their deep understanding of go-to-market strategy, channel development, partnerships, and procurement processes will add an important perspective to our community. We are pleased to welcome Skyhopper to the AREA and look forward to their contributions as we continue working together to accelerate enterprise XR adoption through collaboration, shared best practices, and industry-wide innovation.”

Skyhopper helps enterprise XR companies build and execute their go-to-market. Working with hardware manufacturers, software providers, and services partners, Skyhopper focuses on channel strategy, partnerships, and the practical steps that turn enterprise interest into deployed solutions. The firm also advises companies pursuing federal and defense opportunities, including small business innovation (SBIR) funding pathways. Skyhopper is based in Akron, Ohio.
