Overview of event
The AREA Interoperability and Standards program produces thought leadership content to increase awareness and provide concrete ways that all members of the AR ecosystem can use standards to integrate AR solutions in scalable ways.
The Khronos Group is an open industry consortium of over 150 leading hardware and software companies creating advanced, royalty-free, acceleration standards for 3D graphics, Augmented and Virtual Reality, and parallel computation.
Created in 2019, Khronos’ 3D Commerce Working Group is leveraging Khronos technologies and developing new standards and best practices to streamline the creation, management and accurate display of 3D assets at industrial scale. During this public webinar, Martin Enthed, Digital Manager at IKEA, will share why his company supports interoperable AR, invests in standards development and recommends adoption of standards in its ecosystem.
Neil Trevett, Khronos President, will then offer an overview of Khronos and its standardization work which is relevant to AR.
Khronos 3D Commerce Working Group chairs and members will then describe the goals of their work and how they are catalyzing standards, toolchains and best practices that will positively impact the wider AR industry.
After short presentations there will be a panel discussion about Khronos’ AR initiatives at which the audience can ask questions of the presenters.
