Challenges:
Built for dual use, our technology supports both defense and commercial applications. We’re addressing immediate operational needs—like delivering heads-up access to digital information for aircraft maintainers—while creating a scalable platform for enterprise, medical, and industrial AR solutions.
Background:
For more than a decade, Amalgamated Vision has been reimagining how AR eyewear should work, focusing on the core optical and ergonomic challenges that have limited adoption.
Our solution uses laser beam scanning to deliver sharp, high-contrast imagery in an ultra-near-to-eye format that’s lightweight, unobtrusive, and comfortable enough for all-day wear. When not in use, the display is nearly invisible and never interferes with natural vision or situational awareness. The result is an intuitive AR experience that is free from vergence-accommodation conflict with minimal cognitive load.
We currently hold four U.S. patents covering monocular and binocular implementations of our virtual retinal display. In 2024, we secured over $2 million in SBIR funding and state-matching grants to build and test working prototypes at our research and development facility in Rochester, NY.
Why AR?:
AR is our sole focus. From our early roots in 3D medical imaging to current task-guidance systems for the U.S. Air Force and NASA, we’re committed to using augmented reality to solve real-world problems—precisely, practically, and at scale.
