Overview of event

Overview

The Future Interfaces Group is an interdisciplinary research lab within the Human-Computer Interaction Institute at Carnegie Mellon University. Researchers at the FIG are developing new concepts that may provide value to users of enterprise AR systems.

In this webinar, two projects will be presented:

  1. BodySLAM addresses the need for body, hand or mouth tracking without special worn sensors or external infrastructure in co-located, multi-user experiences. It uses disparate camera views from users to digitize the body, hands and mouth of other people.
  2. MeCap provides real-time estimates of a wearer’s 3D body pose, hand pose, facial expression, physical appearance and surrounding environment by adding low-cost motion capture and user-sensing capabilities to off-the-shelf head mounted displays.

Agenda

Agenda During this webinar Karan Ahuja will present the results of the BodySLAM and MeCap projects.

Attendees will learn:

  • The key user experience and perception challenges these projects seek to address
  • Design of the proof of concepts (parts and processes),
  • results of user testing and
  • Future plans for implementation and/or commercialization.
