Overview of event

The AR for Enterprise Alliance (AREA) is the only global membership-funded alliance helping to accelerate the adoption of Enterprise Augmented Reality (AR) by supporting the growth of a comprehensive ecosystem. We support innovative companies that invest in AR technology and who seek knowledge about the tools available, use cases, methods of implementation and return on investment.

This AREA Research Committee webinar will provide attendees insight into advanced research and user interface design methods and results of projects conducted under the direction of Dr. Steven Feiner, Professor of Computer Science at Columbia University.

Dr. Steven Feiner directs the Computer Graphics and User Interfaces Lab. Feiner’s lab studies how AR and VR can assist people in performing skilled tasks at work and in play, individually and collaboratively. Feiner has been doing research on AR, VR and wearable computing, designing and evaluating novel 3D interaction and visualization techniques for over 25 years. The first outdoor, mobile AR system using a see-through head-worn display with GPS was built in the Computer Graphics and User Interfaces Lab in 1996.

Agenda

In this webinar, Dr. Feiner will be sharing his lab’s research projects on skilled task assistance including:

• Using AR in remote-expert scenarios

• Developing AR visualizations for 3D tasks

• Designing hands-free AR user interfaces for medical procedures
