Overview of event

Meeting Goals

The face-to-face community meetings are designed to promote the discussion among ecosystem stakeholders for the development of open and interoperable AR content and experiences.

During the September 12 sessions, we will receive updates about standards under development from Standards Development Organization spokepeople and Work Group chairs including but not limited to:
– Khronos Group
– ISO/JTC SC 29 Working Group 11
– Web3D Consortium
– IEEE Standards Association
– Open Geospatial Consortium
– MIPI Alliance

On September 13, our goals will be to

  • provide feedback to editors of Mixed and Augmented Reality Reference Model
  • learn of continuing and newly initiated activities relevant to open and interoperable AR
  • discuss emerging challenges which may be addressed via standards or open source interfaces and
  • plan for the community’s future by reviewing existing activities, chartering new work and scheduling 2015 meetings.

Augmented Reality developers participating in the community are on the front lines to learn about and influence the direction of new tools.  The developers encountering obstacles to audience reach and end user adoption as a result of proprietary technology “silos” are encouraged to attend to learn about the open specifications and APIs under development, and to provide their opinions.

All community members are invited to suggest topics for the agenda via submission of position papers.

Position Papers

In addition to the invited speaker presentations and moderated plenary collaborations, contributions to the AR Community may be made in advance of the meeting in the form of position papers. Submitters are requested to follow published guidelines for position papers. The position papers and recommended reading for the previous community meeting are available on this page.
